Very Frustrated...

Anyone and everyone who wants to know anything about my doctors appointment yesterday needs to either read about it here or check with my mom or Mitch. The reason will become clear in just a moment....

So yesterday I got up early and headed to my mom's. I picked her up and we made it to the doctors office 15 minutes early. We ended up waiting almost an hour before being seen, which is getting a little frustrating since its happened the last 3 visits, but I digress. My blood pressure was good and Brooke's heartbeat was strong and steady. Paula checked by belly and Brooke is in the correct position to be born. Then she checked my uterus and was very surprised to find that it is still as high up as it was two weeks ago. Everything else is plenty ready for birth (ie my uterus is soft, I'm slightly effaced, and she's correctly positioned) but because she won't drop they won't induce. It was at this point that I started tearing up and then crying.

Yes I know that that is stupid, and yes I know that its not a huge deal, but that doesn't change the fact that I am so frustrated by this situation that I cry every time I tell anyone that we can't induce this week. So this is the last time I will repeat it. :) Because I don't like crying and that happens every time.

They scheduled me to come in on Monday, and Mike will have to make a judgment call as to weather to induce if I'm still this high. We are hoping however that she'll come on her own before then.

In another note, one about which I am very happy, My Mom got a job yesterday! She's been going on interviews and follow ups for a couple weeks now but yesterday found out that she got it! Yay! SO that's a huge praise and I'm so proud of her! (and they don't mind her missing a day for the baby's birth so yay!)

Family Visit

So today Mom and I went to Gainesville to visit with my Aunt Doris's side of the family! My cousin Nickie had come to Florida with her new addition and we drove down there to spend some time with everyone. We went to my cousin Danielle's house and boy did we have a house full! Aunt Doris and Uncle Bob were there as were Danielle and her son Cameron, Carla, with her daughters Courtney and Amanda and granddaughters Aniya and Jayla, Nickie with Parker and new addition Emma, Mom and me! We had a blast though! I took a couple pics of the little ones, and of the bow holder I made for Emma. Since the adoption happened so quickly we haven't had a chance to have a baby shower, but I wanted to get it made and to her so that she has something with her name on it to hang in the room! :)

Emma (knocked out on Aunt Frances' lap! 8 days old!)

Aniya (In her chair, 20 months old)

Jayla (Working on "tummy time", 3 months old)

Emma's Bow Holder (you can hang all her hair bows on the ribbons that hang down!)

Another week, another doctors appointment!

Well my doctor's appointment went well this morning. The Brooke's heartbeat is strong and steady and my pulse was good as well. One bad note is that while we were waiting for Paula to come in, I started figiting with my hand and noticed that my rings don't want to slide over my knuckle. They still don't hurt or anything, they just don't want to slide off like normal, so I'll probably have to grab my good diamond necklace when I get home, and wear them that way for a couple weeks... :(

Anywho, Paula came in and checked my uterus and said that there wasn't much progress. Its still "way up there" (as she said it!) and still not dialated. :( She said not to worry about it that she was sure that by the time I came back next week I would be plenty ready so that they can schedule to induce on the 1st. I see her on Tuesday again next week so we'll find out then!

As a side note for those who don't know or understand why I feel so strongly about scheduling the birth, here are some of the major reasons...

Mitchell is "on car" (meaning he is riding in a UPS truck with a random driver) 4 days a week, meaning that if I were to go into labor during the day, he wouldn't be able to just head to the hospital. He would have to get a ride back to the building and then head to Jacksonville. Depending on how far he was from the building, it could add up to 2 or 3 hours more before he could start his hour and a half drive from the building to the hospital. (and that's assuming I can get to the hospital without him).

Another reason is that if we do it on a Thursday, then my family who is out of town but close enough to make a day trip (like Aunt Betty and Aunt Doris) could come see us when we first get home on Saturday!

Also, if we can schedule to induce then Mitchell can schedule to use his last two discressionary days tacked onto his paturnity leave, giving him 10 days at home with me and Brooke instead of 7.

Lastly, with my dad in full hunting mode and Josh living in Gainesville, it would be much easier to get them to the hospital if I can give them a day to plan on. If I just go into labor there is no telling how long it will take to reach either of them, since Dad can't get reception at the hunting camp and only goes into town and checks his messages "when he feels like it" and Josh lets his phone die every other day or so, and when its not dead, usually leaves it in the car for hours at a time. :(

So yeah, just so everyone knows.... :)

One more week...at least.

Yesterday was my 37 week doctors appointment! Yay! lol not really. I got there and it seemed like there wasn't anyone else there for appointments, but it still took them longer to see me than it has in the past. When Paula finally came in, they checked the heartbeat which was really strong and steady. Then she checked my uterus, and told me that I would be at least one more week...not even close! :( Too bad.

On a good note, I have accomplished a lot this week at my mom's house. We got the flooring put down in the room that Brooke will be in over there and yesterday I cut all of the shoe molding for that room before I left. We also got the garage pretty much cleaned out, and my mom's big ol' expedition even fits in it now! :) Yay! Just have to finish relocating/organizing the work bench from one side of the garage to the other.

On an even better note, Mitch was wanting to know when we could induce last night. (a huge improvement over his "she's staying in there until you're forty two weeks!") Now he wants us to induce on Oct. 1st. I don't know, we'll just have to see. At my next appointment I'm seeing Mike again, and he makes those decisions, so hopefully he'll be agreeable!

Doctor's Update

So I totally forgot to update everyone about my most resent doctors appointment! So -----> Here goes!

Thursday I had an appointment at 11:45 (the last one b4 lunch) and went in to see Mike instead of Paula for the first time in months. (Mike is Dr Phelan, my actaully OBGYN, Paula is his wife an a Certified Nurse Midwife who does most of my appointments.) He checked the heartbeat and my uterus. Doesn't look like we'll be having the baby this week but we'll go back next week and check again. :) He gave me permission to do whatever I want so no more bed rest to worry about! lol Maybe I'll be back to my capable self by the time she comes!

All in all, good stuff going on! Going back on Wednesday afternoon, so we'll see if there's any progress!

Happy Labor Day!!!

Today is Labor Day, a day to not labor! :) I am so glad its here! Partically because it means I get an extra day with my husband and parcially because it means that its time for the Florida State/Miami season kickoff game. :) But none of this is the reason that I am posting...I am posting because I have PICTURES!!!

While at this moment I still haven't gotten the quilt, I am confident that I will get it today. I do however have all other major aspects of the room done including the drapes hung! So for all of you who are anxiously awaiting the pics of the room...here they are!

The rocking chair/sitting area in front of the window.

The Dresser! The basket is for her dirty clothes, and the pegboard is holding some of her headbands!

The changing table wall! Notice the basket liners! I helped make those! haha. The diaper stacker on the wall, my mom made, and I covered the trash can so it would match the room!

The Crib!

A close up of the crib! The bumper on the outside matches the basket liners and on the inside matches the diaper stacker. The bedskirt matches the drapes and the organizer!

The window dressings! A special thanks goes out to my parents who put the boards together and to my mom for making the drapes. I also need to thank Ms Shirley from my mom's Sunday School class for embroidering the "B" for us! Mom and I upholstered it Friday!

I will add the pics of the organizer and the quilt asap! (Oh, I also don't know why the pictures are crooked, but I'll do better next time!) lol

I'd call that a good day...

So today seems like just a regular day. September 3rd has no significance to me personally, in that its not a holiday, birthday or anniversary. The things I accomplished today were very good, I've worked hard but that's not the story here either. The big reason that today is a good day is that it begins a yearly tradition that I have seriously been craving for the past 8 months and that tradition is COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!! :)

WOOO HOOOO!!!!

SO yeah, just thought you would like to know!
