Gone Consignment Crazy, (Fall 2010)

Well it is that time of year again and the Fall Consignment sales are starting to form! I've finally been able to get dates for them so I can now officially update you all on our old favorites and some new exciting ones too!

Our first sell this fall is a new one, started by a very sweet lady I know. It is called Smock A Doodle Doo!

Dates and Times:
*Presale for Consigners Only Thursday, Aug 26th, 6m-9pm.
*Public Sale* Friday, Aug 27th, 10am-4pm & Aug 28th, 9am-12pm

Location: 4841 Reed Ave. Jacksonville, Fl 32257

Details: This is a sale for only smocked, monogrammed or appliquéd clothing, all in like new condition. They will also be accepting bedding, bows and shoes. Since this is a first time sale, it will probably be smaller than most of the others, but knowing many of the consigners personally, there will no doubt be some super cute clothes! This year, you can consign for a flat $15 consigners fee, and keep 100% of your profits! So if you have tons to sell, this would be a great place to do it! And the good news is that if you don’t sell something, you could easily enter it in one of the later sales. One other thing to remember about this sale is that it is CASH ONLY, so hit up the ATM on your way! If you have any questions or would like to consign, just contact Maddison Dorminey through the facebook page set up for the sale!

The second sale is Finders Keepers!

Dates and Times:
*Presale for Consigners* Wednesday, Sept 1st, 10am-6pm
*Public Sale* Sept 2nd -3rd, 9am to 6 pm
*Half Price Sale* Sept 4th, 9am-3pm

Location: Morocco Shrine Center Auditorium
3800 St Johns Bluff Rd S, Jacksonville, FL

Details: This is the largest of the local consignment sales. They accept everything that you could ever need for or use as a child, from bedding and clothes to toys and furniture. You price your own items, and keep 65% of your sales, minus a $12 consigner fee. This is my mother in law’s favorite of all the sales, because she loves the large selection!

The third, while not a true consignment sale, is Warehouse Sale Jacksonville .

Dates and Times:
*Charity Sale (tickets required)* Sept 10th, 6pm-9pm
*Public Sale* Sept 11th, 9am-1pm and Sept 13th, 10am-1pm
*Phone orders only* Sept 12th, all day.

Location: 12525 Philips Hwy, Jacksonville FL 32256 (line begins at suit 102)

Details: While not a true consignment sale, this sale has the boutique quality smocked, appliquéd and monogrammed clothes that you want without the boutique price. These ladies buy overstocked items in bulk and then sell them to the public at a discounted rate twice a year. If you need a special Christmas, Easter, or other special occasion outfit for your little one, this would be a great place to look!

They also have 2 sales this year, so if you don’t sell everything in the first one, you can always take part in the second, without changing all the work you’ve already done!

VBS!

Last week was SUPER busy with a very long week at our church's VBS. (Vacation Bible School for those who don't know). It was 5 days of being at the church from 8-1 with so many children and volunteers that some times it was a little overwhelming! I was in a room with 5 sweet children and a sweet young lady that I've known for years, Kristin. We had a wonderful time each day teaching the children that God made them and loves them. We went to the carnival outside each day around 10 and let the kids look at the animals in the petting zoo, ride the train and even sit on and ride the ponies if they wanted to!

This is Brookelynne out by the Petting Zoo on Tuesday

It was so much fun! Kalea got to be in my room all week so she went outside with us every day, but we were also able to take Brooke and Kristin's son Gavin with us almost every day because of the timing and helpers! :)

This is Brookelynne sitting outside the petting zoo talking to the sheep and picking up hay! (on Wednesday)

This was Brookelynne on Friday, when she actually got to go inside the petting zoo with Mommy and touch some of the animals...unfortunately for the sweet rabbit, Brooke thought she would try to pick it up, which is what the picture below is all about!

Brookelynne did a great job in her class, amazing all of the volunteer teachers with her walking! :) (She was the only one in her class that was standing by herself or walking) They also had other things that children could do each day, (although our kids were too young for most of them) Besides the carnival/petting zoo that they had out at the playground area, they also had a puppet show (which was set up right outside our door, so we can say for a fact that the kids LOVED it!), some games in the gym, and a play telling them about Jesus. Our class went to the puppet show twice, but weren't old enough for the gym or the play. They did like the puppets though!

Brookelynne LOVED the puppets and some of the middle school girls were more than happy to give her a closer look!

The most exciting thing that Brookelynne 'accomplished' this week was riding a horse! Yes, a REAL LIFE, FULL GROWN HORSE!!! :) Now they weren't huge or anything, but compared to her they were, and she had no problem sitting up there and riding around! This was Brooke's 3rd time on the horse, and this time Grandma got to come over and hold onto her, so we actually got a good picture of it!

Here is a video of my sweet girl riding in circles!

All together we had a wonderful time at VBS and really enjoyed not only the activities, but learning more about Jesus! I can't wait for next year when she'll be older and maybe able to do more! :)

Brookelynne is 9 Months Old!

My darling little girl is growing up way too fast, and today turns 9 months old! It is so hard to believe that she's 75% of the way to 1 year old. She doesn't have her doctor's appointment until next week, so I'll have to post her official 'stats' then, but I'll list for you now all the new things that she's doing this month!

~ We just put up all of her 6 month clothes, as they are too tight/short/small, and she is wearing 9 and 12 month clothes!
~ She has been taking steps while holding one hand for a few weeks now, but today is officially a walker! She's still not sure which foot to use when and sometimes takes 2 left steps for every right one, or vice versa, but she gets where she's headed, so I'm sure that that will work itself out. :)
~ She is back to sleeping through the night again (this had been a struggle since she cut her first two teeth) but with some creative feeding schedules and later bedtimes, she's not waking me up at 3 am anymore.
~ Speaking of teeth, she's cutting her top right front tooth just today! I see the white for the first time and *hope* it will come on down in the next day or so.
~ She has mastered feeding herself. She had a really hard time with picking things up and putting them in her mouth for the longest time and was really behind the other kids her age who were eating puffs and cheerios at 6 months, but in the last couple of weeks it has just clicked and we've had to start vacuuming WAY MORE OFTEN! haha
~ She's been going through some separation anxiety this month. Mostly at church, since I'm almost always with her, she freaks out when she looks around and realizes that I'm not in the room with her. :( Thankfully, she'll calm down for Mitch and usually for my mom, but there are days when only Mama will do. Thankfully she did great at the nursery last night, so maybe she's already outgrown it!
~ She's a Daddy's-Girl!!! Seriously to a fault. Mitch was on vacation this past week and we had to do some tough-love exercises because she thinks that if Daddy is in the house, that he should be giving her his undivided attention. She chases him around then house and cries for him to hold her. She bursts into tears anytime he tries to set her down or even give her to me, and she is inconsolable unless you can distract her!
~ She has a love-hate relationship with Tama. She thinks Tama is hilarious most of the time and then there are other times that Tama just walks near her and she bursts into tears. She may have a flare for the dramatic.....lol
~ She still loves playing on the bed, and loves to just stand up and fall down over and over when she's up there with Daddy. She seems to have figured out that she can't fall back like that anywhere else. [Thankfully]
~ She hasn't been eating as well for us in the bast month or so, and I'm hoping that she's just evened out on her hunger level until her next growth spurt! She's eating 1.5 jars of food in the morning, not quite 1 for lunch, and 2 or 3 for dinner. She does eat puffs/cheerios during the day as well. She's taking four 6oz bottles of breast milk a day as well as 8-12oz of juice/water each day.
~ She's become terrified of anything that makes loud noise, which is ironic since none of that has ever bothered her before. But you don't want to vacuum, blow off the porch or crank up the mower when she is within eye sight of the thing! She screams and holds on so tight to whoever has her that she's literally crawling up you. It's kinda silly!

That's all that I can think of right now, and since Brooke is asleep early, that is my cue to do the same! I still can't believe that she's been a part of our lives for this long or how much more I love her each day. I am so grateful to have her and so blessed to be chosen to be her mom.

*UPDATED AS OF JULY 16TH*
Brookelynne just finished her 9 month appt with Dr Kim. Daddy took her to this one all by himself because Mommy was at VBS still, but being the Mommy she is, she sent a note and Dr Kim did a great job of answering all my questions, not only for me (on the paper), but also for Mitch in person. She is good and healthy, with no problems at all right now. She was 24 inches long and 18 lbs 9 oz. She's in the 75% for her height and the 50% for her weight. She's gotten soooo big! :)

Brooke is WALKING!!!

OHMIGOODNESSS!!!! Seriously, I am soooo excited right now because just a minute ago I was getting ready to put Brooke in her swing with her bottle, but she was playing in the kitchen, so instead of going and picking her up, I just showed her the bottle and she started crawling after it really quickly! (Which she does on a pretty regular basis). Then when she was just a couple feet from the bottle, out of no where, she stood up and took 6, count them- 1 2 3 4 5 SIX- steps all by herself!!! She's taken a step or three before but always leaning toward something or someone (ie the couch or Mitch) But this time she was standing perfectly straight and did it! :)

SOOOO, being the cruel mom that I am, lol, I pulled out the movie camera (which we keep charged up and beneath the TV, for just such occasions) and rolled the bottle toward me and she did it again! She didn't take 6 steps, but she did take 4 or 5 and even when she fell, she'd stand back up again instead of crawling!!! I am SOOOO proud of my little girl!!! 9 months old today and WALKING!!! :) Yay!!!

(Can you tell I'm a proud Mama?) haha

Brookelynne Walking behing her toy!

My little booger is getting bigger by the second! And she's already taken her first steps! She's still not doing it all the time, but what she is doing all the time is crawling over to her push toy, standing up and walking EVERYWHERE behind it. The first time she did this, we got it on video! Here it is! So proud of her!

Brookelynne took her first steps!!!

Today Brookelynne took her first steps! Mitch has been wanting her to do it for weeks and yesterday started holding her hips instead of her hands while she took steps and after a few minutes was able to let go and she still took a few steps! :) She did it 3 or 4 times and did a great job! We're so proud of her! :) I can't believe she's getting so big!!! :)
